What Mobile Mechanic Software Really Costs

Equipped for the road, Mobile Service Sync costs $49 a month for one user, $175 for two and $262 for five, the lowest of every product here that publishes all the prices it takes. Shopmonkey runs $588 to $628 and Tekmetric $784 once texting and booking are added, Orderry's $69 leaves texts to your own gateway, and ServiceTitan publishes no price at all.

How the Figures Are Worked Out

  • List prices on monthly billing, read from each vendor's own plan lines. Promotions, first-month offers and annual discounts are left out.
  • The sticker is the cheapest published plan that seats the crew, adding users where the plan sells them.
  • Equipped is the cheapest published way to get the four things a mobile mechanic pays for every day: a technician app, two-way texting, online booking and automatic review requests.
  • Where one of those has no published price, or is not offered, the cell says so. Nothing is estimated.

Read this one with care. At five users, Tekmetric's Start plan and Steer's Booking Tool both cost less than Mobile Service Sync's $262, and Orderry is lower at every size. None of those three plans includes the four pieces the next table prices.

Where Each Plan Line Puts What You Need

The features a mobile mechanic needs, and the plan or add-on each vendor puts them on.

Mobile Service Sync

  • Core covers 20 jobs a month. Past that, Growth at $175 has unlimited jobs and two users.
  • Customer and fleet portals start on Growth.

Tekmetric

  • Two-way texting starts on Scale, $439 a month.
  • Online booking, reminders and review requests are the Marketing add-on, $345 a month per shop.
  • No routing on its pricing or feature pages.

Shopmonkey

  • Online booking, reviews and campaigns are CRM Essentials, $349 a month.
  • Inventory starts on Clever, $399 a month, and is counted per shop.
  • No routing named on its mobile mechanic page.

AutoLeap

  • The native app needs Elite, $449 a month.
  • Two-way texting starts on Pro, $349 a month; Google review requests on Elite.
  • Online booking is in the Marketing Suite add-on, which has no public price.

Steer

  • Two-way messaging and review requests start on Essentials, $479 a month.
  • No technician app named; Steer runs as an office web app.
  • It runs beside a separate shop management system, which is a second bill.

ServiceTitan

  • Routing by drive time is Dispatch Pro, price on request.
  • Online booking with zones and capacity is Scheduling Pro, price on request.
  • Review requests are Marketing Pro, price on request.

Orderry

  • Online booking and VIN lookup start on Startup, $69 a month.
  • Texts go through your own Twilio or other gateway, which bills you for them.
  • Stock is counted per warehouse, with nothing per van.

What No Published Price Buys

Two things decide a mobile mechanic's day, and among the rivals here neither is for sale at any published price.

Putting the stops in drive order: Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, Steer and Orderry name no routing, AutoLeap's mobile page speaks of route planning without saying how or on which plan, and ServiceTitan's Dispatch Pro has no public price. Working with no signal: of the six, only ServiceTitan documents it.

Mobile Service Sync has both on Core, inside the price in the tables above.

Fees You Pay Once, and the Terms

What it costs to start, and what you sign. Leaving is cheap or dear depending on this table, not the monthly price.

Questions About Cost

What is the cheapest mobile mechanic software?
On sticker price alone, Orderry's $39 Hobby plan is the cheapest here, for two employees and 100 work orders a month. Equipped with a technician app, two-way texting, online booking and review requests at fully published prices, Mobile Service Sync is the cheapest, at $49 for one user.
Why is Tekmetric cheaper than Mobile Service Sync for five users?
Its sticker is, because every Tekmetric plan has unlimited users and Start is $199. Start has no two-way texting or online booking, though, and adding both through Scale and the Marketing add-on makes it $784 a month at any crew size, against $262 for Mobile Service Sync.
Do these prices include card processing?
No, these are subscription prices only. Mobile Service Sync publishes its processing rates, 2.9% + $0.30 on standard cards and $0.20 per ACH payment through Rainforest; AutoLeap sells Payments as an add-on without a public price.
Are annual prices lower?
Usually, and they are left out here because they need a year's commitment. Mobile Service Sync's annual billing brings Core to $39 a month, Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and AutoLeap print an annual figure beside each plan, and Orderry takes 10% off for paying ahead.
